PEOPLE in Worthing are being urged to bring along their "potentially fatal" old electric blankets for free testing.
Tests are being held on October 22 and 23 at Worthing fire station, in Ardsheal Road.

Last year, West Sussex trading standards tested 734 blankets. Of those, 267 failed with 53 of them considered dangerous and 214 not recommended for further use.

Cabinet member for public protection, Peter Evans, said: "We want everyone to sleep safely this winter. But old electric blankets often become worn and can cause fires that could be potentially fatal."
