POPULAR children's author Julia Donaldson will be stopping off in Steyning to help celebrate National Children's Book Week.
National Children's Week starts on Monday and runs until Friday, October 10, and Julia is set to call into the Steyning Bookshop, in Steyning High Street, on Wednesday, October 8.

Julia is touring the country to launch her latest picture book, Sti
ck Man, which is illustrated by Axel Schleffler.

Readers will learn how being a Stick Man can be a dangerous game, with dogs wanting to play and birds seeing nest-making material – but don't worry, there is still a happy ending to the tale.

The visit to Steyning will also give Julia the chance to receive an award, to be presented to her by the West Sussex Schools Library Service and West Sussex Libraries.

This year, as part of the National Year of Reading, children across the county voted for their favourite picture book of all time, and Julia's famous book The Gruffalo won the most votes.

Julia will be signing her books at the Steyning Bookshop from 1pm to 2.30pm on Wednesday, October 8, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Entry is free and Stick Man and Gruffalo games will be laid on in the garden, organised by the bookshop, weather permitting. For more information, call 01903 812062.
