PEOPLE can now boost a community charity while striving to eat their five portions of fruit and veg a day.
The Sussex Produce Company, in Steyning High Street, has chosen the town's First Responders scheme as its charity for the month. People will be able to donate in the shop, which specialises in locally sourced produce, while owner Nick Hempleman will donate 5p each time a customer spends £5.

Former Steyning Grammar School pupil Nick, 28, said he was delighted to support a local charity which benefited the community.

He told the Herald: "We are really proud. I couldn't believe how many calls the responders get. It is such a good cause."

Volunteers from SAFeR – the Steyning Area First Responders – are called out on average twice a day to support the ambulance service.

Nick invited people to suggest local charities which the shop could support in future. He said people were welcome to call in at the shop, or contact him via the website www.thesussexproducecompany.co.uk
