THE final week of the Worthing Unified Open proved to be a great success at Beach House Park.

The singles title was won by Colliers Wood bowler John Graham on Saturday afternoon after he defeated Hastings’ Martin Heitzman 21-15 in the final to land the £1,500 prize money.

The triples title was won by Terry Honnor, Heitzman and Scott Edwards as they overcame Glyn Walls, Terry Ewartt and Colin Jones in the final to win the £825 prize money.

This was the fifth Worthing Unified Open and secretary Chris Young was delighted with how the week went.

He said: “The second week proved to be hugely successful.

“We had no problem with the weather and both the singles and triples events saw some great bowls played.

“The semi-final of the singles had to be played on Friday as Martin Heitzman was involved in both events but, all in all, it was a great week of action.

“John had an extremely tough draw in the singles as he had to beat all of the top players but managed to claim the title.”
