SHOREHAM boxer Joe Lumb capped off an impressive season with victory over Ryan Oliver on Friday evening.
Lumb, who was boxing at an awards dinner, impressed so much on the night that his performance earned him the junior fighter of the night honours.
The 15-year-old talent picked up ten wins from 14 bouts this season.
He was delighted with how he ended his season and said: “I was really pleased to get the win on Friday.
“A lot of work has gone into me winning this fight and, fortunately, I managed to do that.
“The victory was great and then to be recognised with the boxer of the night award was great.”
Lumb, who leaves school in June, has managed to secure a place on Brighton’s Boxing Academy at City College Brighton & Hove.
On his aims for the future, Lumb said: “It’s great to be awarded a place at this academy.
“I know that there is a lot of hard work for me to do but the ultimate aim for me is to make it as a professional.
“One of my goals for next year is to win the ABA Championships.
“This is a well-known event across the country and a strong group enter this event.
“I could come up against some really good boxers but I’m hoping that I will be able to go far in it.”
