MILE OAK Football Club boss Anthony Whittington is targeting Wick & Barnham as his side go in search of promotion from County League Division 2.
Oak, who remain fifth, moved to within two points of the promotion places with a 1-0 victory at Westfield on Saturday.
But it is not AFC Uckfield in third place that Whittington is targeting in the push for promotion.
He said: “The next three games are going to be huge for us. We have to play Wick twice and face Haywards Heath.
“I think our best chance to get promotion is by preventing Wick.
“They are currently four points ahead of us and we both have three matches left.
“Those two matches are going to be vital and we will have to take maximum points in both to have any chance of promotion.”
Whittington was pleased with the response his side showed on Saturday after suffering a 2-1 semi-final defeat against Worthing United in the Division 2 Cup last week.
He added: “It was really disappointing to lose that game.
“The players could have let that result affect them but they didn’t and we remain in with a shout of going up.
“It’s not often that we have a chance of promotion at this stage of the season and we will try to clinch it.”
