MILE OAK Football Club boss Anthony Whittington is hoping his side can take all three points from their County League Division 2 match away to Wick & Barnham on Saturday.

Oak go into the top-of-the-table match in fifth place, five points adrift of their second-placed opponents and having played a game more.

Whittington knows the importance that a victory would have for his side.

He said: “If we are to achieve a top-three finish, we need to win most of our remaining matches.

“We need to beat Wick on Saturday to really give ourselves a chance of getting in the top three.

“A victory would give us a lot of confidence going into the remainder of the campaign.”

Oak still have 11 matches to play in Division 2 and Whittington added: “I don’t think we are going to be able to catch Wick or Worthing United.

“But if we win most of our remaining matches, we may have a chance of finishing in the top three.

“If we can beat Wick on Saturday and they beat teams around us, that may well be the difference in us gaining a top three spot.”
