MILE OAK Football Club boss Anthony Whittington knows his side will have to be at their best to reach the final of the County League Division 2 Cup on Wednesday.

Oak face leaders Worthing United in the last four at Haywards Heath, with a 7.30pm kick-off, and Whittington said: “It’s going to be a really difficult game.

“Worthing United have been the best team in this league and look likely to go on and win the title.

“We know that we will have to be at our best to reach the final but we have the belief that we can cause an upset.

“It’s cup football and anything can happen in a one-off game.”

Mile Oak will go into the tie with confidence after they beat Worthing United in their last meeting.

Oak secured a 2-1 success at the Robert Albon Memorial Ground to end the Mavericks’ unbeaten home league record.

Whittington feels that win will help spur his side on and said: “We go into the game knowing that we beat them the last time we played.

“It was a really good win for us that day and there is no reason why we can’t repeat that result and reach the final of the cup.”

Wick & Barnham meet AFC Uckfield in the other semi-final tomorrow.
