SHOREHAM Football Club exited their second cup competition in the space of four days on Tuesday evening.

After their FA Vase defeat on Saturday, Mussels went out of the Sussex Senior Cup away to Pagham, who defeated Shoreham for the second time inside two weeks.

Pagham were made to work hard for their win, although they did take the lead inside a minute through former Mussel Josh Clack.

The hosts lost striker Scott Murfin to injury early on, before Neil Murfin was also forced off after half-an-hour.

Shoreham began to get more into the game but they were reduced to ten men on 36 minutes when Jamie Craddock was dismissed for a second booking.

Mussels drew level on 59 minutes when Wes Millis headed home.

However, Pagham went back ahead just eight minutes later when substitute Rob Wimble scored after excellent approach play by Clack.

Mussels pressed for a equaliser and Pagham keeper James Binfield was forced into one acrobatic save, before he kept out a Kai Bichard shot shortly afterwards.

Shoreham had the ball in the net on 86 minutes but it was ruled out for a foul on Binfield, before Matt Fleming fired wide in the closing stages.

SHOREHAM: Betts; Fleming, Gregory, Laughlin, Millis, Allan; Anderson, Garriver, Bichard, Buggy; Craddock. Subs: Godstone, Lorenzo, Louis.

n Mussels are at Dorking Wanderers in the league on Saturday, before they travel to Littlehampton in the Peter Bentley Cup third round on Wednesday,
