SOUTHWICK Football club continued their winning start to the season with victory at Clymping in County League Division 3 on Saturday.

Goals from Will Fuller and Alex Sarkies were enough as Southwick saw off the Division 3’s second bottom side.

The win means Wickers have now picked up three wins in the league to add to their FA Vase success over Combined Counties Premier side Dorking last time out.

Southwick boss John Kilgarriff was delighted as his side secured victory and said: “It was a really good performance from us and we could have had more goals.

“We had a few players missing for the game and knew it was not going to be easy so to take all three points is great.

“Clymping is never an easy place to go and we lost there last year, so we knew it was going to be difficult.

“We have made a great start to the season and hopefully we will be able to continue that.

“It’s such a contrast to last year when we did not start well at all.

“We still have to play Bosham and Langney, who are favourites for promotion, but it’s now a case of keeping the players fit.

“We have real strength in depth in the squad this year.

“In our first few games we have had players on the bench who could easily play in Division 2, so it just goes to show what a strong side we have here this year.

“We still have a few players to return, hopefully we can continue to push on this year and be near the top of the table come the end of the year.

It was Southwick who started the brighter and they could have gone infront but George Turrell’s effort was straight at the keeper.

They took the lead seven minutes before the break, as Sarkies curled his effort into the top corner from 25 yards.

Then, just five minutes after the break, Fuller slammed the ball home.

Fuller should have had another, but he failed to find a finish after he was played in behind the Clymping defence.

Southwick continued to apply pressure and Fuller saw his effort flash past the post.

Jamie McKenzie had a shot late on that flashed just wide of the goal as Wickers secured another win.

Southwick will be hoping to continue their flying start to the campaign when they host Billingshurst in County League Division on Saturday.
