MILE OAK Football Club kept their faint chances of gaining promotion from County League Division 2 alive with victory at Haywards Heath on Tuesday.

The victory saw Oak move up to fourth place in the table, with just one game to play.

They trail AFC Uckfield, who occupy the final promotion spot, by two points but Uckfield need just two points from their final two games to seal a top-three finish.

Mile Oak made a quick start at Haywards Heath and went ahead on four minutes when Karl Gillingham’s cross was headed home by Eric Wedge-Bull.

It was 2-0 ten minutes later when Dave Marsh crossed for Danny Curd to score.

Curd then got his second of the evening a minute later to put Oak three up with just 15 minutes gone. A fine through ball from Wedge-Bull released Curd, who broke through and slotted the ball into the corner.

Oak then sealed a comprehensive success when Asa Turley-George netted late on.

Mile Oak travel to Wick & Barnham in their final match of the season on April 18.
