SHOREHAM Football Club have announced that MP Tim Loughton is the club’s new president.
Mussels recently announced a merger with Adur Athletic to form one youth club from next season and Mr Loughton, who is MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, said: “I am delighted to be asked to take on the role of president of this exciting new venture for the two clubs, which have come together to form Shoreham & Adur FC.
“While I have valued my long association with Adur Athletic, I have been working closely with Shoreham FC over recent years and this merger promises to be a major force for good for young people in our area.
“Both clubs have excellent reputations in providing a quality offer for young people of all ages and have given thousands of local kids the opportunity to gain confidence, skills, team work and progress their ambitions.
“The many volunteers who have given up their time to make this possible should be justly proud of what has been achieved so far and we can all look forward to a very exciting future.”
Mussels chairman Stuart Slaney said: “Tim is constantly engaged with the local community and puts hours upon hours of great work into helping the town and this relationship will only benefit everyone.”
