ILE OAK Football Club fought back from a goal down to book their spot in the FA Vase second qualifying round on Saturday.

Oak trailed by a goal heading into the final 15 minutes of their cup clash with Seaford Town.

But a remarkable turnaround saw them net three times in the final 15 minutes to come out on top.

Oak would have fancied their chances going into the clash with their Southern Combination League Division 1 counterparts.

Anthony Whittington’s side went into the game with confidence, after collecting a 6-2 home success over Sidlesham in their previous game.

Heading into the game, Seaford had suffered five successive defeats without scoring in all competitions this season. However, the game did not go with the form guide as Beckham Pout fired Seaford ahead on 50 minutes.

Seaford’s task got a little harder ten minutes later, though, as Billy Pout received a straight red card for violent conduct.

Danny Curd pulled Oak level 15 minutes from the end with his eighth goal of the season.

Oak continued to apply pressure and they were rewarded eight minutes later.

Adam Dine slipped Jack Arnold in and he put Oak ahead for the first time.

Mile Oak’s progress was then assured with four minutes left as Dine netted to make it 3-1.

Oak will entertain Lordswood in the next round on October 3.

MILE OAK: Stenning; Macdonald, Hall, Lansdale, Loughlin; Skinner, Watts, Pulling, French; Dine, Curd. Subs: Shepherd (Macdonald), Arnold (Pulling), Turley-George (Loughlin), Gillingham, Bridge.
