LANCING Football Club suffered their second successive cup defeat when they lost at home to Crowborough in the Sussex Senior Cup on Tuesday.
After their FA Vase defeat at Phoenix Sports on Saturday, Lancers fell behind on six minutes to Crows when Scott Treleaven netted.
Alex Fair, who was making his first start for Lancers after joining from Shoreham, levelled on 24 minutes.
Fair then bagged his second goal for the club midway through the second half.
However, Treleaven drew Crows level on 77 minutes and then completed his hat-trick with a minute to go to send Crowborough through.
Lancing boss Richard Whittington said: “I felt we were the better side, so it’s disappointing to lose the game.
“We played well and went 2-1 ahead but we just could not see the game out.
“When you are a goal in-front with 13 minutes left, you would hope to get at least a draw from the game, but we did not see the game out.
“They scored a goal on 89 minutes, which left us with no time to recover.
“It’s disappointing to be knocked out of a second cup competition in four days. But we will now turn our attentions to the league and hope to pick up some good results in our upcoming matches.”
