DANNY CURD struck five times as Mile Oak Football Club defeated Sidlesham 6-2 in Southern Combination League Division 1 on Monday.
Curd netted three times in a eight-minute spell as the hosts led 3-0 after only 16 minutes. He scored his first on eight minutes when he side-footed home Jamie Watts’ cross from six yards.
He headed home his second from a corner on 14 minutes, before he completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot two minutes later after a foul on Adam Dine.
Sidlesham got a goal back in first half injury-time through Tom Bayley and Paul Grantham then made it 3-2 two minutes into the second half.
Curd soon got his fourth - with another penalty - after Watts was brought down, before Curd netted his fifth 20 minutes from time.
Curd could have got a sixth when Oak were awarded another spot-kick, after a foul on Gary French, but his penalty was saved and then he side-footed the rebound over.
Oak did get a sixth ten minutes from time, though, when Eric Wedge-Bull scored from Lloyd Skinner’s corner.
Oak manager Anthony Whittington said: “We were brilliant and started on fire. We totally dominated the first half-an-hour and probably should have been 4-0 up before they scored after two lapses of concentration.
“We played really well again after that, though, and got three more goals.”
MILE OAK: Stenning; Gillingham, Hall, Lansdale, Loughlin; Skinner, French, Wedge-Bull, Watts; Dine, Curd. Subs: McDonald, Pulling, J.Whittington, Hilliard, Garrod.
