Lancing Football Club, who were Peter Bentley Cup winners last season and also secured a fourth-placed? finish in the Southern Combination League Premier Division, have added six new additions, while three of last year’s squad have moved on.

Lancers boss Ash Bailey has moved quickly to bring in several new faces with Danny Gainsford, Dan Pollard, Shaun Charles, Adam Laundon, Marco Lincoln and Zack Kavanagh all joining.

Skipper Naim Rouane has decided to move on, David O’Callaghan has joined Shoreham and Josh Spinks is on trial at Burgess Hill.

Bailey admits it has been a manic summer but has been pleased with the business completed so far.

He said: “I’m happy with what I’ve managed to bring in at this minute. Danny has played for us before and one we are happy to get back in.

“Both Dan and Adam have Premier Division experience and will add to our squad. Shaun is very experienced in this division as well.

“We are a little disappointed to lose the players we did with Naz, Dave and Josh moving on.

“I wish all of those guys the best but with Josh it’s a great opportunity and the others want a fresh challenge.”

Lancing’s pre-season programme is well and truly under way with two friendlies completed so far.

Lancers kicked things off with a 5-0 win over Upper Beeding, before falling to a 2-1 home loss at the hands of Ryman League Premier Division side Burgess Hill on Saturday.

Bailey revealed it was nice to see some of his new faces in action but with several first-teamers missing felt it was tricky to take too much from both.

He added: “I’d say I was without five or six first-team players in both games.

“It was nice to see some of the new guys tested in a game situation but with several of the first-team players missing it was quite tricky.”

Lancing’s pre-season fixtures: July 16, Hythe Town (H), July 19, Mile Oak (H), July 23, Lewes double header (H), July 26, Redhill (H), July 30, Ringmer (a).
