Albion defender Liam Rosenior is ready for a big test at Burnley on Sunday when the sides meet in a top-of-the-table Championship clash.

The Seagulls are second and unbeaten in 16 games, two points ahead of third-placed Burnley, and Rosenior said: “Everyone says is this the biggest test of the season? Every game is the biggest test of the season. The record and the unbeaten run has not been discussed as a group, we’re just concentrating on another tough game.

“It’s going to be a hard game against a team that was in the Premier League last season. The way they’ve run the club, I think has been fantastic.

“They’ve been prudent but when they’ve needed to go and get top quality in, the likes of Andre Gray and Joey Barton, they’ve gone and done it.

“We try to win every game we play. We won’t be content with sitting back and playing for a point. We’ve got a lot of good players and weapons in our team, so we’ll look forward to trying to get three points on Sunday.”

On the ultimate goal of reaching the Premier League, Rosenior said: “We’re here to win and every player wants to play at the highest level - regardless if you’re Solly March, who’s 21, or Bruno, who’s 35, the dream is to play in the Premier League and, hopefully, we can achieve that this year.

“We know it’s going to be difficult and we know we’ve got to work hard day in, day out, on the training field and in games and, hopefully, that will happen for us.”

Rosenior also admits that the 16-game unbeaten start counts for nothing yet and said: “If you can start a league and be unbeaten for the first 16 games, it’s a really good achievement. But it’s not a big achievement for me because we’ve not achieved anything yet.

“It’s a platform and a base for us to kick on for the rest of the season and make sure we stay in that top group and give ourselves the best possible chance of finishing in the top two at the end of the season.”
