Across the end of last season and this campaign to date, Brighton have collected 100 points from 46 league games - with 29 wins - after a 3-0 victory at home to Reading on Saturday.

Albion have showed no ill effect after agonisingly missing out on promotion to the Premier League on goal difference last season. The Seagulls now sit top of the Championship, ahead of tomorrow's home game with promotion rivals Newcastle, and talking about the 100 points from 46 matches, Hughton said: "That's all testament to the players and their desire to want to win football matches.

"We had a good level of results last season, it wasn't quite enough and what they've managed to do this season as well is to have a good level of points.

"That's down to them and their real desire to want to win as many football matches as possible."

Albion go into tomorrow's game on the back of a five-game unbeaten run and after wins against Barnsley and Reading.

Hughton said: "I think in the last two games we've been very good. We've had periods in the season where perhaps we haven't been at our best and have managed still to get some results.

"Fulham away is one thats hits me where Fulham were very good but we showed great character in that second half to get a win.

"We've played very well in the last two games. Whether that's at our best or not, I'm not sure but we've certainly played well."
