Brighton celebrate a goal at Brentford

Brighton & Hove Albion began life under Chris Hughton with an excellent 2-0 win at Griffin Park against Championship play-off contenders Brentford last weekend.

The reward for that success is a lucrative fourth round tie against holders Arsenal later in the month - one that is likely to be televised live.

The Seagulls are 13/2 to cause a shock against the Gunners (1/2) who are 7/1 at BetVictor to retain the trophy at Wembley in the spring.

Albion are back out to 250/1 to win the competition after the draw, with the club’s priority to get away from the foot of the Championship table as soon as possible.

Hughton will face the Bees again in his first home game at the Amex in ten days’ time, but before that the Seagulls travel to Charlton Athletic at the weekend for a vital league game.

The Addicks, who have only won one of their last eight games against the Seagulls, are 9/4 with Brighton 13/10 and the draw at 9/4.

The Valley has been a happy hunting ground for Albion in recent times, scoring two or more in six of their last seven visits and the hosts could hardly be described as being in a rich vein of form having gone seven games without a win.

Charlton have eight more points than Albion in the table but have been cut into 10/1 for relegation in recent weeks as a result of their poor run of form.

The Seagulls have been as short as 2/1 to be playing in the third-tier of English football next term but are back out to 3/1 after their run of four unbeaten games in all competitions and the club must aim to finish the season in the top half of the table for which BetVictor quote 5/1.

Chris O’Grady scored his first goal for the club at Griffin Park and is 6/1 to grab the opener at the Valley whilst Lewis Dunk, who scored the first goal against the Bees, scored twice in the reverse fixture the 2-2 draw at the Amex back in August.

Dunk is 18/1 to score first against the Addicks and 7/1 to find the net at anytime during the 90 minutes.

Dunk (four) is 3/1 favourite at BetVictor to be the Seagulls top Championship goalscorer in a fascinating market but one which highlights the club’s problems in front of goal this term.
