Sussex County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the return of its annual disability day on at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground.

The Sussex Cricket in the Community disability day, which will take place on Monday, May 18, is one of the largest mass participation events in the South East for people with disabilities, and reinforces our commitment to making cricket accessible to communities and individuals across Sussex.

The event aims to promote disability participation in cricket through a variety of fun and innovative activities. Those new and familiar to the game can test their skills at the Sussex Roadshow, Take Part Skill Zones, VI Zone, Krazy Katch stations and Table Cricket as well as playing in small-sided games.

Sarah Vincent, a lecturer on the Brinsbury Campus at Chichester College, said: “Our students have been coming along for the past few years now and have always thoroughly enjoyed their day. The coaches always show great empathy towards our students, allowing them all to take part and have a go whatever their ability. They are able to meet other students from various colleges of similar abilities to themselves and they always come away with a smile on their face, having had a great time and having made new friendships.”

Tim Shutt, Head of Sussex Cricket in the Community, said: “The vision of the Community programme includes ensuring opportunities to participate in cricket are genuinely open to all and there will be no better example of how this can be the case on May 18th.

“In the five years it has been running, it has always been well attended and has always been an extremely enjoyable day for all involved.”
