Paul Reid reacts to hearing of the Micky Adams move — and also notices an increase in body work going on.
THINGS have certainly changed quickly at the club, and just days after 10 players were released, including me.

Micky Adams says he's reviewing those out of contract but I don't think he's ever seen me play. I've no idea if he's interested in me at
all, and I've heard no more.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. My agent, meanwhile, has been in contact with other clubs but it's early days yet.

I am still spending a lot of time in the gym, strengthening my knee. But just lately, in the last few weeks, as the season was drawing to a close, I began to notice something. A big influx of other Albion players.

I thought, why? Our games would soon be finished.
Ah, but then the penny dropped. The summer is coming . . . the guys are coming in to add to their muscle bulk. They're doing things like bench presses and bicep curls, a few sit-ups and some other abdominal work.
The reason? So they look good sunbathing on the beach. It's to impress their lady friends.

I'm not going to be smug and say Aussies don't have to resort to such drastic measures, but in Australia I guess we're a bit lucky.
In our outdoor or beach culture they like surfing or bodyboarding and those sorts of people stay in good shape. And they work to keep it that way on an ongoing basis.

People here look different. Back home they'd be in shorts and flipflops and without a shirt, but people walking along the seafront in Brighton keep a bit more on.

Aussies who work outdoors leave shirts off and sunscreen themselves, and guys doing that in this country do go bare-chested. But it seems to me the British rather look down their noses at men out and about with no shirts on.
