SHOREHAM Football Club joint manager Mark Burt was delighted to see his side break their Division 1 winless run on Tuesday night with a 3-2 win away at Eastbourne UA.
Mussels' last win in the league was back on October 31, which was a 3-0 win over Redhill. They had played seven league matches since, with four defeats and three draws.

Shoreham's goals came from a Rob Boddy brace and first-half James Rhodes strike and, despite Boddy's second coming just four minutes from time, after Eastbourne equalised in the 83rd minute, Burt was always confident they could get the result.

He said: "It's been a long time coming but the three points are well deserved. The last two games we've been getting back into our stride, without the final result but we were well worth this one.

"We did ever so well. Lee Eastman was outstanding, as was most of the team. In the past few games, only four or five have been playing to their full potential but last night virtually everyone did.

"Both their goals were quite fortunate, but it's brilliant to get back into the winning changing room."

Rhodes opened the scoring on 36 minutes with a great strike from the edge of the area, before James McKenzie equalised on 56 minutes when he latched onto a blocked shot.

Boddy netted his first on 71 minutes from Rhodes' pass, touching it round the goalkeeper and into an empty net.

Eastbourne pulled it back with another sloppy goal, before Boddy netted the winner with a carbon copy of his first.

Last Wednesday, Mussels went down 3-1 at Chichester, in a match which saw Josh Clayman break his leg.

After a scoreless first half, Joe Briggs fired Chichester ahead on 52 minutes. James Temple added a quick-fire second, but Mussels were handed a lifeline when Bradley was fouled in the box and he netted the resulting penalty.

Hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished, though, as Tom Broadbent netted a third.

V Chichester: Lockwood; Tidey, Smith, Eastman, Burt, Garrod; Callaghan, Lewis, Johnson, Boddy; Bradley. Subs (all used): Clayman, Rhodes, Wild.
