WORTHING Football Club stayed top of Ryman Division 1 South after making it three consecutive wins in the past five days, with a 2-0 win at Walton Casuals on Monday night (March 15).
As many as 100 Rebels fans made the journey to Casuals, making up a total attendance of 155, to see Simon Colbran and his side record their third away win in three games.

Worthing did make slightly hard work of the match, with the busy recent sche
dule showing on the players, but nevertheless Rebels remain top heading into their top-of-the-table clash with Folkestone on Saturday.

Captain Paul Kennett headed Rebels ahead after just nine minutes from a Jamie Brotherton corner, while a minute later they were lucky not to be level as Anthony Gale's free-header at the back post rattled Alan Mansifield's cross bar.

That was really it for chances for the first half, which turned into a scrappy display, but despite this Mansfield wasn't required to make a stop for the rest of the half, or in fact the whole 90 minutes.

After the break Brett Patton fired over on the hour mark, while Charlie Farmer should have done better with his header at the back post, which he put well over the bar.

It was Evan Archibald on hand however, in the 85th minute to wrap up the points.

The striker, after coming on as a substitute, got on the end of Ben Williamson's cross and hit it on the turn to net his seventh goal in eight games.

For a full report and match reaction see this week's Herald on Thursday.

WORTHING: Mansfield; Denton, Farmer, Axten, Groves; Brotherton, Patton, Kennett, Johnson; Fenelon, Williamson. Subs: Archibald (Fenelon 65), Greenfield (Johnson 90), Clarke (Brotherton 65), Bowra, Brown.
