I CONGRATULATE Ropetackle for having the courage to present the Art of Science series during the Adur Festival, in particular The 4 Professors Series.
Having thoroughly enjoyed the Living Landscape by Professor Robert Allison, which highlighted how our Downs and seascape came about – I am so glad we are no longer hitched to France – two friends and I attended the last in the series, Grasses Bite Ba
ck, presented by Professor Sue Hartley, with songs sung by a group of young children drawn from several local schools and composed and played by the wonderful Aiden Kearney.
It was a truly delightful and entertaining evening and, what is more, I learned a thing or two. Science is so important for the future prospects of our country.
These Sussex University academics proved they can engage with children in their language and amuse whilst making science appear to be fun as well as interesting.
I am so glad that Adur District Council helped to sponsor this series.
Thank you, Ropetackle, for the presentation of a delightful display of pictures created by local children during the Adur Festival's workshops with Tony De Saulles, the award-winning illustrator of the Horrible Science books.
It will be hung in a place of honour in the Civic Centre for all to see.
Well done, Ropetackle, I loved it.
