I WOULD like to add my support to the views of Pauline Price (Your Views, June 11), concerning the "regeneration" of, pictured right, Tarmount Lane, Shoreham.
As a trustee of Adur Voluntary Action (Adur CVS), which operated from these buildings, I am aware of the great upheaval that all the groups housed in the Tarmount Lane buildings experienced when we were all given our marching orders in spring, 2008.
We were first offered premises in the Burrscrofte building (yet another rotting hulk), but when this was found to be unworkable, organisations were offered accommodation at the Civic Centre.
Those who decided (for good reasons) that this was unsuitable were left to fend for themselves.
This took time and considerable amounts of money, and Adur Voluntary Action, for one, never received any of the money provided to Adur District Council by SEEDA to free up the Tarmount Lane site for the Shoreham Renaissance developments.
The architects of Shoreham Renaissance think only of the structure of Shoreham, without seemingly giving any thought to the function of the town.
Surely, services provided from these premises to the elderly, infirm and more needy members of our community are more important than smart offices?
As it is, we do not even have the smart offices (shades of the Ropetackle project) and Shoreham regeneration has turned into Shoreham degeneration.
It will be a hard task to breathe back life into this area of Shoreham, as the patient is already dead.
