No fuss, no mess, just a professional recycling service

HAVING just received the latest copy of the Adur Neighbourhood Watch newsletter, I was heartened to read that there has been a 24.9 per cent reduction in crime within Adur – the highest anywhere in West Sussex.
Although Adur has never been a crime hot spot, most residents I know feel that any sort of crime is of concern.

The weekend fracas that used to blight Southwick Square now appears to be a thing of the past.

Adur has always been a pleasant
place to live and, with the hard work of our local police officers, police community support officers and the civilian staff and volunteers who back them up, it is today a safer place to live.

Following recent reports in the national press and on television about some people being fined for overfilling or leaving excess items by their wheelie bins, it is nice to know that some refuse and recycling staff are far more accommodating.

With the recycling now being taken only once a fortnight, our wheelie bin is usually full up long before the due date for emptying.

I took a bit of a chance last week and put the surplus in our original blue box and left this beside our wheelie bin.

The recycling lorry duly turned up, and the wheelie bin and blue box were emptied.

No drama, just a very professional and accommodating service.

People often complain about how much council tax we pay, but when you see reductions in crime and well-run local council services such as refuse and recycling, it feels to me like money well spent.
