CLIFF Redman was correct in his letter.
Residents in Worthing and Adur have not been asked whether they want their council services "merged".

The letter from Martin King certainly demonstrated that merging council staff onto a single Worth-ing/Adur pay spine would cost an extra £1.3mill
ion each year which could be paid for only by either cutting front-line services or increasing our council tax.

As a Liberal Democrat Worthing councillor, I have tried many times to locate what has become known as the "fairy tale saving" that has often been claimed by leading Conservative councillors and the chief executive.

It is now clear that merger of Adur and Worthing staff is a "busted flush" that has already wasted far too much staff time and council tax.

Councillor Bob Smytherman
