It would be such a sin to 'bin' bin

IN response to Peter Berry's letter (Your Views, April 17), my dustbin will not be going to the tip – instead, it will be cut into two and the base will be used to grow potatoes and the top half, with the lid as a base, onions or carrots.
To avoid the bother of cutting off the handle on the lid, I will raise it off the ground with reclaimed bricks from my old greenhouse base.

Another idea for your redundant dustbin is to use it as a composter, or to store garden tools in.

I'm sure readers can think of other ideas, thus avoiding adding to the ever increasing amount of landfill.

So, come on, everyone. Be kind to your dustbin.

Remember, it has served you well for many years.
