AS I was driving into Crown Road from Hammy Lane, Shoreham, last week, I was met by a funny sight.
By the kerb, a beefy workman was spread-eagled in a wheelbarrow, legs akimbo, enjoying his mug of tea.
Beside him, sitting around on the grass verge, were five others, likewise drinking tea – taking their "elevenses" break.
On my side of the
road, several large vans were parked one behind the other, bearing the logo of a well known utility supplier.
With the highway dug up and cones in place, it made for a very narrow bit of road.
I had to stop the car and remove an errant cone so that two oncoming cars could squeeze past mine.
The workmen just sat there and stared at me.
I know they are entitled to their tea break, but all at once?
It really doesn't look too good!
