Concrete evidence of spoilage

CAN someone please explain why it was necessary to concrete a section of footpath along the riverbank at Shoreham?
This is a natural environment, which has now been spoilt so unnecessarily.

Forgive me if I have missed something here – I thought the idea was to make a cycle and wheelchair- friendly path, linking Ropetackle to the riverbank and beyond, so why
does it suddenly stop, with a rough area of no man's land in between?

It would be precarious, if not impossible, to manoeuvre a wheelchair along here.

It reminds me of areas where we suddenly have a cycle path spring up for about 20 yards and then come to an abrupt halt.

Where is one meant to go from here – sprout wings?

What next – street lights along there?

It didn't take long for young bikers to start using it as an unofficial speed track.

Several people have left their comments on the aforementioned surface, and I can only agree with them.

The remainder of the path down to the toll bridge has been left natural, but all churned up by the workmen's trucks and heavy vehicles.

I also note that there are fewer dog bins in the area, meaning that people will just throw their plastic bags into the bushes when they get tired of carrying them.

It really saddens me to see what is happening in and around our once lovely town.
