I AM currently working on my new book about the former Sussex workhouses which became NHS hospitals, providing care for the elderly, chronic sick in 1948.
If any readers could help by providing photographs of these hospitals taken during the years 1930 to 1974, I would be grateful.

The hospitals are Southlands (pictured right) at Shoreham, Brighton General, St Helen's (Hastings), St Mary's (Eastbourne), Battle, Newhaven Downs, Pouchlands and Cuckfield.

Photos would be scanned and sent back by return.

Any used would, of course, be acknowledged in the book and a complimentary copy provided on publication.

I aim to have the book in the shops in time for Christmas.

I can be contacted at 34 Hillcrest Road, Newhaven, BN9 9EG, or by email – harry@southerneditorial.co.uk
