FIREFIGHTERS from across East and West Sussex joined forces for a multi-agency maritime training exercise at Shoreham Harbour on Tuesday.
More than 60 firefighters took part in the exercise, which involved an urgent call from Tarmac Marine Dredging's ship, The City of Chichester, after a fire in the engine room.

Shoreham fire station watch manager Jon Simpson said: "This exercise allows all the teams involved to experience a realistic fire scenario on board a large vessel and gives us the opportunity to work with the East Sussex maritime incident response group and to test our emergency plans so that we're fully prepared for any fires at the harbour."
A request to the harbour master to moor the vessel at the Tarmac Wharf in Shoreham Harbour and the re-ignition of the engine fire then sparked the shore firefighting response.
Captain Stewart Ferrier, of Tarmac Marine Dredging, said: "Safety is of the highest priority to our company and, as part of this, we test our emergency procedures annually.
"To take part in this exercise with the emergency services will be a realistic test for the emergency response team and our contingency plans."
