WALKERS went bananas to raise money for the Shoreham lifeboat station appeal.
Southwick Sports and Social Club took part in the St Barnabas House Great Ape Walk.

Thirty-eight giant inflatable bananas were carried along the 10-mile route from St Barnabas House hospice in Durrington to the sports club in The Twitten, Southwick.

Along the way the walkers faced repeated attempts by people dressed as monkeys and apes to steal the fake fruit, which they had been sponsored to do.

All made it safely along the route and they were welcomed at Shoreham lifeboat station by some of the crew members giving out liquid refreshment before they finally got to the sports club.

An estimated £4,000 was raised and will be spilt between the £1million Shoreham lifeboat station appeal which aims to build a new lifeboat station and St Barnabas House hospice.
