THE future of a Shoreham community group is under threat.
Southlanders, set up by residents of the Southlands ward, could be forced to close if it loses its Adur District Council project worker.
Chairman Barry Thompson said: "The biggest threat to our continued presence in the community of Southlands are the changes being planned at Adur District Council.
"The community and well-being team are planning to restructure their department and the roles of their community project workers, which means we may lose the services of Andy Bray."
Southlanders has enjoyed huge success in recent years, setting up a community café, which has hosted talks, exhibitions and training courses, and building a new park.
At a meeting on Tuesday, Mr Thompson said that to continue this success, it was vital Mr Bray remained involved with the group to represent its interests at county and district council meetings and help with funding bids.
"We are really good at what we do and it would be a shame for it to fail," he said. "I desperately do not want to see Southlanders fold, but must look at this objectively.
"We are stretched to the limit now and cannot afford to lose the help of anyone, I myself struggle to devote more time to Southlanders business."
The group is also appealing for a new group secretary.
Anyone who thinks they may be able to help to secure the future of Southlanders is urged to call 07968 515421.
