Worthing council needs a shake-up

Having recently moved back to Worthing after ten years away, I read the letter from Labour's Martin McCabe (October 13) with great interest.

Mr McCabe certainly has a point about our Conservative council and their broken promises to develop Teville Gate. It is incredible that nothing has happened during the entire decade that I’ve been away from the town.

Whatever your political leanings, I think we can all agree that having council candidates that are prepared to hold our politicians to account can only be a good thing for our local democracy.

Perhaps Teville Gate is a lesson for Worthing in what happens when local political parties aren’t effectively challenged and when local democracy goes stale.

Maybe Worthing’s politics needs to be shaken up a bit. If Mr McCabe’s letter is anything to go by, I think we might be in for an interesting time ahead.
