Rabbit hutches

Have your say

I have to tell readers that Mrs Ferrers-Guy (Herald, September 4) was somewhat negligent in her research regarding the housing development at the Southlands site.

I have yet to meet a councillor who was advised of the ‘exhibition of proposed housing’ organised by the hospital trust. That is why we were not there.

The lack of public information was typical of the way that the hospital trust has acted over the years. A long time ago, I lost faith in the people who are responsible for our local hospital services.

As chairman of the council, it was one of my proudest moments when the citizens of Adur joined together and linked hands to surround the hospital buildings.

I still remember the shout of joy which went up as the final hands were joined on the south west corner of the main building. Of course, the trustees were just laughing at us. They knew what they were going to do and nobody was going to stop them.

It looks as though we are in for more of the Mickey Mouse rabbit hutches which already cover much of the site.

One good thing which has happened is the rehousing of the Northbourne Medical Centre at the Southlands site. It now has a fine building and a great deal more space.

Cllr Brian Coomber

St Nicolas Ward

Adur District Council
