Load of rubbish

I was amazed to read the letter in the Herald last week from Neil Parkin, stating that no complaints had been received by Adur District Council about the lack of road sweeping and rubbish clearance in Southwick Square.

May I assure Mr Parkin that there have been many, many calls to the council about this matter, including several from myself.

It is a pleasure to note that officers and councillors will be meeting and working alongside the local traders and he will be aware of the formation of the Southwick Together steering committee.

It is quite certain that these events would not have happened had the council seen fit to respond to the many representations made by traders and residents alike.

Perhaps I may be forgiven for suggesting, with tongue in cheek, that matters of cleanliness may no longer be ‘swept under the carpet’ as would appear to be the case in the past?
