LETTER: Noise pollution

I must complain most strongly about the noise caused by the music festival at Shoreham Airport.

It was beyond everything reasonable and an infringement of basic human expectations.

The bass was at a level where one could feel the sound vibration in Mill Hill Gardens, Shoreham, and did not change throughout the event timetable.

An event of this type is not suitable for the area and should not be considered being allowed in future.

There is too much population and the infrastructure is not sufficient.

Local government must respect the wishes of the people and not cave in to the demands of business, backed up by a host of lawyers or other experts, at the first opportunity.

If the airport needs this sort of activity to make money I suggest the whole board resign and make way for others who can run the airport properly, allowing activities that are commensurate with an airfield, such as flights and associated engineering.

Finally, I must point out that the litter in the centre of town was disgusting and I trust that the event organiser will be paying for the extra clean up required.

If there are future applications for this sort of event then can we ensure that they are not back door ones and that all are able to scrutinise with plenty of time to do so.
