LETTER: All entitled to protection

I was shocked to read in last week's Herald (March 2) that it was necessary to change the approach of how assailants are dealt with when a police officer has been attacked, as opposed to a member of the public.

There should never have been a distinction in the first place.

Everyone, officers included, is entitled to the full protection of the law.
