EU debate: Isolation is not the way forward

I have read the pros and cons of the EU Referendum debate in the Herald and elsewhere and have made my decision based on a clear moral choice.

Isolation is not the way forward. By remaining within the EU we will continue to support policies for fair, just and secure lives for all member states’ citizens. We are helping each other to create peace and harmony in an ever dangerous world. Our pooled resources are used to address the needs of all countries within the EU at various stages of their development. When all are eventually thriving at a comparable economic level ( including security, welfare, health and environmentally) we will all benefit from the shared prosperity and peace this brings to a united Europe.

If Brexiteers have their way who will come to Britain’s aid if our economy or security is threatened by unforeseen circumstances? There are two many uncertainties and unanswered questions to risk our children’s and grandchildren’s futures by an exit vote which could tear asunder the United Kingdom..

My decision has been made easier by the attitudes and beliefs of Gove, Duncan-Smith, Farage, Johnson and other Brexit protagonists. They have convinced me that Voting IN is the only clear and moral option. Britain has never been isolationist nor has it ever shirked its responsibilities to defend the rights of the oppressed or disenfranchised in any part of the world. We need our voice in Europe advancing the rights of all.

United in Europe is strength. Isolation is selfish , morally negative and threatens all our futures.
