CHRYSANTHEMUMS of all shapes and sizes were enjoyed by a steady stream of visitors at Southwick and Fishersgate Horticultural Society’s 64th autumn flower show.
Pride of place went to a pumpkin weighing in at 126.73lbs (57.5kg), grown by Bob Bingham.
Kent Kressner and Julie MacCulloch were joint winners in the chrysanthemum classes and the judge was impressed with the quality of blooms.
There were tasty cakes and savouries in the cooking section and Alan Varney won the men’s class with his sausage plait.
In the handicraft section, there were some amazing exhibits, with Anne Stone winning the Red Ribbon Award for her cross-stitch picture of river bank scenes.
The photography section was well supported, with Sheila Sharman gaining most points.
Organisers congratulated the new exhibitors who won awards.
The society meets on the last Tuesday of the month and new members are welcome. Visit www.sfhorticulturalsociety.org.uk for further information.
