HERBIE will be five in January and the best birthday present would be a new home.

The male Staffordshire bull terrier is very intelligent and loves to learn new tricks.

Dogs Trust said: “His trainer Tasha has clicker trained him which has helped him to feel more confident as he is a shy boy.

“Although he will take a little longer to get to know his new owners, he is very affectionate and fun to be with once he trusts you.”

Herbie likes to play with other dogs and would be happy to share any new home with the right one.

Dogs Trust added: “He is looking for a local, quiet, adult home with no visiting children and he needs a garden he can enjoy playing in.

“He loves to play with tennis balls and enjoys a game of fetch, he also likes to go swimming in the summer and is fab at agility.

“Herbie loves his food, so his trainer has used food as a reward for all his training.

“He is a good boy at walking nicely on the lead, being left and going for a drive in the car.”

New owners would need to be prepared to work with the staff while getting to know Herbie.
