UPDATE: Road re-open after Sompting crash

Cokeham Road in Sompting has now re-opened (6pm) following an incident earlier today (August 19).

The road was closed around rush hour after a three-year-old girl was hit on Abbey Road.

Police say the road is now open.

The incident, which happened around 4.20pm, is believed to have involved one car on Abbey Road and a spokesman for Sussex Police said the girl was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

No arrests have been made.

Police said: “Police were called just before 4.20pm on Wednesday, August 19, to a report a 3-year-old girl had been hit by a car on Abbey Road, Sompting.

“The child has been taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

“The vehicle was still at the scene. No arrests have been made.”
