A woman died when her car was in collision with another car, driven by a Lancing man, this morning, police have confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Ditchling Road, Brighton, near Hollingbury Park golf course at 9.09am today (Wednesday, November 2), said a police spokesperson.
The woman’s Vauxhall Astra had been in collision with a Ford Mondeo, driven by a 65-year-old man from Lancing, confirmed the spokesperson.
The man suffered a fractured wrist, but was able to escape from his car and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, according to the spokesperson.
The 52-year-old woman, from Brighton, had to be cut from her vehicle by fire-fighters, but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, said the spokesperson.
The road was closed in both directions to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians while the incident was being dealt with and was reopened shortly after 2pm, the spokesperson said.
