A woman from Worthing was taken to hospital and a major road near Horsham was closed following a crash in Kingsfold yesterday (Thursday May 28).

The A24 Dorking Road was closed in both directions between the Great Daux Roundabout in Warnham and Kingsfold after the collision near the Dog and Duck pub at about 1.40pm.

Police said a black Volkswagen Tiguan, driven by a 75-year-old man from Findon Valley, Worthing, was in collision with a silver Ford Ranger towing a trailer, driven by a 41-year-old man from Shoreham-by-Sea.

A 71-year-old woman in the Volkswagen, wife of the driver, suffered neck and chest injuries and was released from the vehicle by firefighters.

She was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill but was allowed home after treatment.

The couple’s two-year-old grandson, who was also in the car, was unhurt. Both drivers also escaped injury.

The A24 was closed for more than two hours while the incident was dealt with.

Sussex Police have thanked motorists whose journeys were delayed or disrupted for their patience.
