THE best-ever GCSE results at Steyning Grammar School are being celebrated, as it prepares to mark its 400th year.
Head teacher Chris Taylor said: “We are delighted with these fantastic results, which are the best ever in our school’s long history.
“Our students have taken great steps forward in achieving our school vision of ‘Every person the best they can be’.”
A total of 72 per cent of students achieved five A* to C grades, including English and maths – an increase of 19 per cent.
Top achievers included Rebecca Van Pelt, who gained 12.5 GCSEs at A*, and Ruth Allam and Isabel Green, who gained 11.5 GCSEs at A*.
Many of the students will be staying on at Steyning to study in the Sixth Form College there.
