SHOREHAM Rugby Club has received a huge boost in its fundraising quest.
Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, has thrown his weight behind the community club in its efforts to secure a grant from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund.
The club, based in Buckingham Park, is fundraising for a new clubhouse to provide a base for the hundreds of children and adults who participate every week.
It is one of four charities shortlisted in the Adur area for cash from the fund. The two with the most votes will receive the maximum £3,000 and the other two will get £300.
Mr Loughton said: “It is fantastic to see a growing interest in Shoreham Rugby Club and it is vital that foundations and financial support are put in place to help the next generation of budding rugby players.
“The club has been an ever-present social hub in the community for years and the community now has the chance to help out one of its own.
“It will be great for the club to receive this financial boost to match their increasing ambitions on and off the pitch.”
Club chairman Mark Norris said: “This grant can help make all the difference to our players and the local community.
“Each vote takes us closer to providing the rugby facilities the players volunteers and community deserve.”
Voting closes tomorrow. Visit the website www.lloydsbank.com/communityfund to find out more or visit Lloyds Bank in Shoreham, Southwick, Lancing.
