DIFFERENT challenges and a stimulating environment attracted accountant Patrick Ovens to his new role at Shoreham Port.
Patrick has taken over as financial accountant, within the operations division, at Sussex Port Forwarding, in Basin Road South, Portslade.
His main responsibility is the management of the limited company’s financial information and systems, to include preparation of monthly management accounts, statutory year-end reporting and the production and analysis of reports. These provide financial information to help the division evaluate its performance.
Patrick said: “Having worked in a general accounting practice for nearly 13 years, I thought the time was right to move into industry.
“Shoreham Port offered that opportunity to work within a busy and varied commercial port that will not only provide different challenges, but a stimulating work environment and hopefully the ability to progress into a variety of new roles.”
Outside of work, Patrick’s main hobby is spending time with his family. He has a seven-year-old son and a daughter on the way in October.
He admits his other main focus is supporting Crystal Palace, and both he and his son are season ticket holders, watching every game they can.
