MEMBERS of Beeding and Bramber Local History Society took a trip to Chichester Ship Canal.
The trip, booked for the summer break from indoor meetings, was enjoyed by the group.
Pat Nightingale said: “The peaceful boat ride allowed views of wildlife and glimpses of the former crossing-point of the Selsey Tramway.
“We were also able to stop for a while to see the viewpoint which inspired Turner’s famous painting of Chichester in the distance.”
The society, which also covers Botolphs, Small Dole and Edburton, meets monthly in Beeding and Bramber Village Hall, with the next meeting on Wednesday at 7.45pm.
Jackie Marsh-Hobbs will be giving a talk about Brighton railway station.
Refreshments are available and entry is £2 to non-members.
