A BEAUTY salon will attempt to smash a Guinness World Record by getting over 1,000 people simultaneously painting their nails on Worthing Pier.
Euphoric, in South Farm Road, Worthing, will attempt the feat on Saturday, October 26 and need nearly 1,200 people to turn up on the day.
The ambitious attempt is in celebration of the beauty salon’s tenth year in business and will also raise funds for Guild Care and Breast Cancer Care.
Owner Zoe Clark said: “What bigger way to celebrate our tenth birthday year than attempting a world record.
“Now all we need is for the residents of Worthing and beyond to get behind us and take part in this fun event and support two very worthwhile charities. “After all, it is something to tell the grandchildren in the future.”
The current holder of the record is Taiwan, which set the bar at 1,156 people in 2011.
Worthing mayor Bob Smytherman, who will verify the event, said: “I think it is a really great opportunity to put Worthing on the map and to beat the Taiwanese record would be fantastic.
“I am very hopeful that we can beat the record. The community is very good at coming together and I just hope the weather is good.
“There should be a lot of people in the town starting their Christmas shopping, so I am sure we could get them on the pier and painting their nails.”
Those who attend the event are asked to provide a donation of £1 on the day.
They should gather at the pier between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, with the record attempt taking-place at 2.45pm.
Participants are asked to bring their own nail varnish and everyone will paint their nails, at the same time, for at least five minutes.
Five nails per person must be painted for the record to be validated.
As a thank-you, everyone will receive a voucher for a free manicure or pedicure at Euphoric.
